OLSON FAMILY DENTISTRY, PLACENTIA CA

Advanced Technology

It’s no secret that health care technology is always changing. In order to give you the best care, as well as a better understanding of how your mouth works and how to keep it healthy, Olson Family Dentistry is proud to offer you the most advanced dental technology, combined with years of solid experience, for a well-rounded dental visit.

Intraoral Camera
Intraoral Camera

This pen-sized camera can transmit high-resolution images to a TV monitor so you can see first-hand what’s happening inside your mouth. Being able to see exactly what Dr. Rees Olson sees can help improve communication and set you at ease with your care. Getting a closer look in those dark places also improves the accuracy of a diagnosis and helps us formulate a treatment plan that is best for you.

Ultrasonic Cleanings
Ultrasonic Cleanings

We can provide ultrasonic cleanings to thoroughly break up and remove plaque, tartar, and other build-up around the teeth and gums so you can enjoy a cleaning with less of the sharp-object hassle.

Oral Cancer Screening
Oral Cancer Screening

As your family dentist, we play a vital role in your oral health, and it is our responsibility to provide the highest level of care with the latest technology in the detection of oral cancer. That’s why we use VELscope as part of our oral examination. A light-based, non-invasive screening device, VELscope helps detect abnormalities in the tissue that are not visible to the naked eye. Detecting hidden lesions before they have the chance to progress is vital to preventing full-blown oral cancer and improving survival rates.

Modern Sterilization
Modern Sterilization

At Olson Family Dentistry, your safety is our top priority, and we are careful to follow the most up-to-date sterilization practices in the industry. We monitor our sterilizers weekly using the gold standard of biologic indicators, or weekly spore tests, to prevent cross-contamination and verify infection control.

Rubber Dam Dentistry
Rubber Dam Dentistry

When performing fillings, root canals, and other restorative procedures, Dr. Rees uses a rubber dam to help prevent contamination of a tooth as it is being treated. A rubber dam isolates the tooth from the tongue, saliva, lips, and cheeks to reduce moisture contamination on the tooth during restoration. The isolated, dry environment is particularly ideal for our white fillings to bond properly which will increase the longevity of your restoration. Rubber dams are a sheet of thin latex rubber (or silicone for those allergic to latex) secured to a metal frame and placed around the tooth being restored. Rubber dam isolation also protects patients from inhaling or ingesting contaminants and allows Dr. Rees to have a clean work space around the tooth being worked on.

X-Rays and Alignment Evaluations
X-Rays and Alignment Evaluations

Your examination includes X-rays when applicable. And because early detection is vital for children, especially before permanent teeth come in, we check your little one’s teeth for bite alignment or aesthetic concerns in the future.

After your exam, Dr. Rees Olson can treat you with an artistic touch and the latest innovations in cosmetic dentistry. He has the diagnostic experience and equipment to help you achieve the smile you’ve always desired while providing comfortable, long-lasting, natural-looking dental care.
